STANLEY MARCUS TO PRESENT MAUS & HOFFMAN WITH OXXFORD CLOTHES "SPECIALTY STORE RETAILER OF THE YEAR'' AWARDStanley Marcus, the `Dean of American Retailing' will be in Palm Beach, Florida on Friday evening, February 2nd to present Oxxford Clothes "Specialty Store Retailer of the Year" Award to members of the Maus family, owners of the venerable Maus & Hoffman specialty retail group. Joining Mr. Marcus will be Crit Rawlings, Oxxford president/CEO. An Oxxford Trunk Show will be taking place at all six Maus & Hoffman stores from Monday, January 29th thru Saturday, February 3rd. Maus & Hoffman and Oxxford Clothes have a half century relationship. "We have enjoyed a long and fruitful relationship with Oxxford Clothes," John Maus explained. "Our family business was founded on providing the very finest in men's and women's clothes and Oxxford ranks as the finest hand made clothing made in America today!" John is in charge of the family's Palm Beach store, at 312 Worth Avenue. Maus & Hoffman is celebrating their 60th Anniversary season. Oxxford Clothes has gained some high visibility recently by provided the clothing wardrobe for key characters in the film from Stephen Spielberg's Dreamworks, "The Contender". The film's costume designer Matthew Jacobson states that he chose Oxxford Clothes for the fictional President Evans "to reflect the power and glory of the President." Jeff Bridges, who played the role of the President, said that the clothes helped him get into character because he actually felt like the President of the United States when wearing Oxxford. Gary Oldman and Sam Elliott also wear custom-made Oxxford suits. Perhaps President George W. Bush saw the movie... or perhaps his advisers suggested he seek out Oxxford to spruce up his wardrobe as he prepares to become the `most powerful man in the world.' "We are making a new collection of suits for Mr. Bush that should help define a new image because of better fit," Crit Rawlings said. George W. Bush is admittedly very comfortable wearing western clothes on his ranch, but also expressed interest in wearing clothing appropriate for his position! "By virtue of the office of President, Bush will be the most photographed man in the world. What he wears will influence fashion and we're honored to be working with him." Rawlings is CEO of the 85 year old company. Visitors to the Maus & Hoffman stores will be able to see the silhouettes of the new suits being crafted for Bush and review the luxurious fabrics being used. In fact, that's one of the reasons a Trunk Show is so important to well dressed men. "We present trunk shows not only for our regular customers, but to introduce the concept of `wearing the best' to individuals that can afford to dress well, but aren't aware of the advantages of fine luxury clothes. At the Oxxford Trunk show, men can actually order the same suits President Elect Bush will have in his wardrobe" Bill Maus, Jr. explained. Bill and his brother Tom Maus, are at the Las Olas flagship store at 800 East Las Olas Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale. Stores are also located in Sarasota, Naples, Bal Harbour, and Boca Raton. The Oxxford Trunk Show will be followed by a Hickey-Freeman and a Brioni Trunk Show, taking place at each store. "By specializing in top-of-the-line labels like Oxxford Clothes, Hickey-Freeman and Brioni, we have carved out a unique niche in the specialty retailing marketplace," explained Tom Maus. "Our family motto for close to sixty years... `when only the finest is good enough' continues to guide us".
